The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) is an operational EU Agency that provides safe and secure European satellite navigation services, promotes the commercialisation of Galileo, EGNOS, and Copernicus data and services. It also coordinates the EU’s forthcoming governmental satellite communications programme GOVSATCOM. The Service, System and Security Engineering Department ensures the Agency’s technical leadership on all matters related to system infrastructure, service and security engineering, through the establishment of an Engineering Centre of Competence acting as internal provider of expertise to the programme exploitation, market downstream and innovation, security operations and monitoring, security authority and ICT and Facility Management as required.
The Department provides the above-mentioned competencies and capabilities transversally to the Agency when so required.
The current vacancy is for a position situated at the Agency’s headquarters in the heart of Europe – Prague – with excellent connection to numerous major European cities. The capital of the Czech Republic, in the banks of the Vltava River, is famous for its cultural life, renowned musical life, historic buildings, magical bridges, and recognised museums and monuments.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for Security Engineers who will support the different teams of the Service, System and Security Engineering Department.
They will report to the Head of Department or one of the department’s team managers and will be entrusted with the following main tasks and responsibilities:
- Follow up on the EUSPA developments and service provision activities to ensure the adequate implementation of the relevant security aspects;
- Perform engineering functions for the definition and the implementation of the security baseline for the different Components of the Space Programme (definition, flow-down, follow-up of implementation of security requirements, etc.) *;
- Carry-out cybersecurity activities (e.g. definition and implementation of cybersecurity requirements, cybersecurity audits, vulnerability management, etc.) *;
- Provide engineering expertise for the governmental services of the Galileo component *;
- Perform security risk analysis related to the Components of the Space Programme *;
- Establish and update the statement of compliance to the security requirements, as well as administer possible requests for waivers;
- Support the activities related to the protection of EU Classified Information (EUCI) and COMSEC materials for the different Components of the Space Programme;
- Participate to the Service/System/Projects Reviews and Boards, as appropriate;
- Provide technical advice according to the job holder’s domain of expertise and contribute to any other tasks of the Department, as necessary;
- Support the industrial procurement in support of the above activities;
- Liaise with other EUSPA departments, notably in the area of Administration, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial & budget management, risk management;
- Liaise with the Space Programme stakeholders (European Commission, European Space Agency, etc.);
- Contribute to internal reporting, and report on the status and progress of the activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, informatics, exact sciences, etc.);
- Experience in performing engineering duties in one or several of the following domains, preferably in an international environment:
- security
- cybersecurity
- security risk analysis
- governmental services
- Experience in handling classified information and/or COMSEC material;
- Experience in space programmes at national or EU level;
- Experience in financial, procurement and contract management;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
- Motivation;
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
- Ability to deliver accurate work under pressure and tight deadlines, organise workload and prioritise tasks;
- Service-oriented mind-set and collaborative attitude.
