The role of Senior Tutor in Sociology at the School of Social and Political Sciences emphasises teaching and learning excellence.

This position involves delivering tutorials in large undergraduate subjects, supporting administrative requirements, and fostering a diverse, inclusive classroom experience. The Senior Tutor will benefit from mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support subject coordinators in delivering effective teaching by managing Learning Management System sites, selecting tutors, and maintaining subject guides
  • Conduct tutorials that meet Faculty teaching satisfaction standards
  • Collaborate closely with teaching teams, Senior Tutors, and relevant disciplines to enhance tutorial delivery and design
  • Contribute to scholarly activity to support teaching practice within the discipline
  • Teach, learn and deliver tutorials in large undergraduate subjects, supporting subject coordinators, and contributing to teaching initiatives and contributions
  • Opportunity to mentor and support teaching excellence in a diverse student cohort, enhance your teaching skills in a supportive environment

Who We Are Looking For

  • Completion of a Doctoral qualification in Sociology or closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience of teaching diverse groups of students in a range of delivery modes
  • Demonstrated track record of effective teaching and learning practices and an ability to develop educational resources
  • Deep understanding of diverse student learning needs, enabling the creation of inclusive educational environments. Your exceptional organisational skills, commitment to high professional standards, and ability to navigate policies and procedures will contribute to your success in this role.

Salary: Level A – $80,258 – $108,906 p.a. plus 17% super
