NATO Headquarters organises an internship programme to give a small number of students the opportunity to gain experience at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. These internships cover a wide range of knowledge and skills, offering opportunities in areas such as political affairs, defence and security, innovation, operations, communications, corporate support and human resources, finance, science and technology, and infrastructure and facilities.
Requirements:
- Must be over 21 years of age at the time of the placement.
- National of aNATO member state.
- At least two years of university study or equivalent, and must have been enrolled in their third year or in their highest degree programme for less than one year.
- Proficiency in one of NATO’s official languages (English/French); practical knowledge of the other will be regarded as an advantage.
- Interns must have health insurance cover and complete the necessary formalities with the Belgian authorities regarding their stay in Belgium.
Main objectives:
- To provide interns with the opportunity to learn from the NATO community and gain a better understanding and a more balanced view of the Organisation.
- To improve NATO’s access to theoretical and technical expertise that the intern can apply through practical tasks.
- To contribute to the creation of a more diverse workforce.
- To increase knowledge and understanding of NATO in member countries.
Benefits:
- Monthly salary of €1,335.
- In-house training: Participation in an induction programme and monthly briefing sessions that will provide you with an overview of NATO’s activities and structure. These sessions offer unique opportunities to meet experienced staff and officials from across the Alliance, and to discuss topics of interest with them and with other interns. Visits to other institutions, such as the European Parliament, will be organised.
