EUROPOL has one internship position available, and the successful candidate(s) will take part in the internship project(s) for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months, with the possibility of an extension depending on their performance, budgetary availability and the service’s requirements, working a 40-hour week. The placement will take place at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of cybercrime prevention measures, with a particular focus on:
- Supporting the cybercrime specialist in their daily tasks;
- Proposing prevention interventions targeting specific types of cybercriminals, taking into account the different types of cybercrime and their modus operandi;
- Contributing to the creation of evidence-based prevention programmes tailored to specific groups of offenders (e.g. cyber activists or organised cybercrime networks);
- Contributing to the integration of behavioural science principles into interventions (for example, using cognitive biases to deter offenders);
- Measure the progress made in cybercrime prevention interventions and review them as necessary, under supervision.
- Support day-to-day tasks related to the preparation and organisation of ongoing prevention interventions, including logistical support for meetings and events (drafting minutes, reports, messages and presentations).
Requirements:
- Be a national of a Member State of the European Union;
- Have reached the age of majority in your country of origin;
- Hold a level of education equivalent to a full university degree or vocational training relevant to the duties of Europol. Only diplomas issued by the authorities of EU Member States and diplomas recognised as equivalent by the relevant bodies of EU Member States are accepted. If the main course of study was undertaken outside the European Union or at a non-EU institution located within the European Union, the candidate’s qualification (hereinafter ‘non-EU qualification’) must have been recognised by a body officially designated for that purpose by one of the Member States of the European Union (such as a national Ministry of Education).
- Possess a very good knowledge of English, which is the main language of internal communication at Europol, and a satisfactory knowledge (corresponding to at least level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of another European Union language.
- You must not have had, for more than six weeks:
- Have undertaken any form of work placement (formal or informal, paid or unpaid) within a European institution, agency or body (including Europol), or
- Have worked in any capacity within a European institution, agency or body (including Europol).
Benefits:
During the internship, interns receive a monthly grant of EUR 1,602 to cover living expenses in the Netherlands. In accordance with the rules of the Europol internship programme set out below, this amount may be adjusted during the course of the internship.
If requested, trainees must submit invoices and receipts for living expenses incurred in the Netherlands during their placement at Europol. Trainees who continue to receive a salary from their employer whilst undertaking a traineeship at Europol, or who receive a grant or financial support from another source intended to cover their living expenses during the traineeship, shall only be entitled to a financial contribution from Europol if the amount received is less than the monthly allowance. In that case, they shall receive the difference.
