Description
The Centre of Excellence for advanced materials application (CEMEA) of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) tightly collaborating with Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of SAS and Biomedical Research Center of SAS offers a 2 years PostDoc position in dynamic interdisciplinary environment, which combines the material science and biological evaluation.
Research activities include:
– processing of (partially) biodegradable metal or metal-metal composites (Ti, Mg, Zn, etc.) for an application of biomedical device (implant, stent, etc.)
– microstructural characterization
– mechanical and fatigue testing- corrosion behavior
– in-vitro biological evaluation

Requirements
A strong background to :
- light metals, alloys and metal matrix composites for use in biomedicine
- powder metallurgy processing
- electron microscopy and analyses (SEM, TEM, EDS, EBSD, XRD)
- mechanical, fatigue and corrosion testing
- in-vitro biological evaluation (cyto- and geno-toxicity, oxidative stress)
