18 de November de 2024

On Thursday 14 November the European Parliament published a new call for proposals for grants for news agencies, TV channels, radio stations, digital media and the written press.

Projects submitted must have a twofold objective:

1. To provide regular, reliable, pluralistic and non-partisan information on the political and legislative work of the European Parliament, including information on the implementation of EU legislation, with an emphasis on its implications for the daily lives of European citizens. Actions may also include monitoring the implementation of EU legislation.

2. Contribute to the fight against disinformation and manipulation of information, through awareness raising, fact-checking and media literacy.

Proposals submitted by the media must have a minimum duration of 6 months and run from September 2025 to March 2027. The deadline for applications is 15 January 2025.

In terms of award criteria, proposals must be clear, well-defined, well researched and fully developed, taking into account all timing and budget considerations. The scope, the audience of each medium (to be specified in the project) and the impact of the action are also considered key criteria, as they contribute to raising citizens’ awareness of the work of the European Parliament, ensure wide dissemination and geographical balance. Finally, proposals must be multi-platform, with an integration of channels including innovative media and formats.

The budget available for this call is €5 million for the selected European projects as a whole. The financial requirement for applicants is to have an average turnover/revenue over the last 2 financial years of at least 100% of the total amount requested from the European Parliament. The grant is limited to a maximum co-financing rate of 60% of the eligible costs for the media action.

Full details of this call for proposals can be found on the European Parliament’s grants webpage.

To access the call and submit applications (in English only), please consult the European Commission’s funding opportunities and calls for proposals webpage.
