Through this call for proposals innovative local practices will be selected – policies, projects, events or organisational structures developed by local or regional authorities – that can inspire other cities and regions, and that generate a real impact on the ground.
These practices can be implemented by the authorities themselves or by other stakeholders at local level. As a result, an online catalogue of 30 good practices from European cities, regions, non-urban and rural areas will be published.
Eligible entities
The call is addressed to local and regional authorities (rural areas, medium-sized towns, capitals or large cities and regions) in the 27 EU Member States plus the United Kingdom. The application can be submitted by other entities (universities, professionals, local groups, etc.), attaching a letter of support signed by the competent local authority.
The European Commission’s “Cultural Heritage in Action” initiative is part of the “European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage”, and consists of a peer learning activity aimed at local and regional authorities as well as other interest groups. It aims to foster knowledge sharing and strengthen policies and initiatives, with a special focus on issues such as participatory governance, adaptive re-use and the development of innovative solutions for the preservation of cultural heritage resources.
