It is placed, according to this ranking, in the ninth position among the universities analyzed.
The University of Almeria achieved the ninth position among all the universities analyzed in the list prepared by the Spanish edition of Forbes magazine published annually. In this way, it has improved its position, climbing two positions with respect to last year’s edition, when the UAL was ranked eleventh.
Satisfaction for these results has transmitted the rector of the University of Almeria, Carmelo Rodríguez, who stressing the “caution that must be taken when interpreting any ranking”, has valued very positively that the UAL stands out in such important aspects for students such as the educational offer, the quality of teaching staff, the excellence of teaching and the possibilities of employability of its graduates.
The rector of the UAL recalls that “these rankings can be a recognition, at a given moment, to the work carried out by the universities, but the result obtained should serve above all to continue improving in each of the indicators analyzed, rather than to establish a comparison between universities”.

However, it is a reality that the positioning of the University of Almeria continues to improve year after year, both in national and international rankings. The Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning and Faculty of the UAL, José Joaquín Céspedes, assures that “we have been carrying out a coordinated work from different lines and objectives of the strategic plan to improve the University of Almeria in the areas of education and training, research and transfer to society, so a good position in this ranking is very positive for the recognition of our university, although it is not an end in itself”.
In the Forbes ranking of best universities in Spain 2022, it is highlighted that the University of Almeria focuses on comprehensive student satisfaction and attracting talent through the quality of teaching, knowledge transfer and a higher degree of international recognition.
Also of interest are its educational offer, with 38 degrees and double degrees, 49 official masters and 14 doctoral programs; and the challenges of the UAL in terms of sustainability. Thus, the University of Almeria is conscious of reducing its negative environmental impact, and committed to contributing to the advancement of sustainable development of society through teaching, research and innovation. The Forbes ranking also highlights aspects such as the price of credit, accessibility and teaching and research quality: more than 80 % of its professors hold PhDs and it has half a dozen articles published in the journal Nature.
