The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy at the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE): Research and Development specialist in Educational Sciences
The Research and Development Specialist will work with a science education research team to support a study examining the development of responsive teacher education pedagogies during the current COVID-19 crisis. The successful applicant will be affiliated with the Department of Education and Social Work, and its Institute for Teaching and Learning. The candidate will be working in the field of educational sciences and will contribute to the research program led by Prof. Dr. Christina Siry. In particular, the study will focus on the work of the SciTeach Center team at the University of Luxembourg, and thus the candidate will work closely with the researchers and teachers that support the center.
Task
- Communicate and collaborate with the SciTeach Center research team, including partner teachers and student assistants
- Co-develop emergent research foci with the SciTeach Center team, as well as provide ongoing support for the Center’s initiatives
- Engage in collaborative research targeted at examining the development and implementation of responsive remote pedagogies for teacher education, including:
- Conduct literature review to support research on primary teacher professional development and teacher education during crises
- facilitate the organization of data-sets, including video data collection and management, and multi-level data analysis
- take responsibility for administrative tasks within the project.
- Analyze video-based multilingual data resources (English, German, Luxembourgish)
- Prepare single-authored and co-authored publications in English
Requirements
- Completed Masters in education, sociology, or a related field
- Previous experience in the education sector, preferably in the area of higher education and continuing education
- Experience supporting and conceptualizing research projects in educational sciences
- Experience with interpretive qualitative research approaches and collaborative analyses and writing
- Knowledge of the Luxembourgish education system and the formal settings of education in primary and secondary schools
- Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in at least one of the following: either Luxembourgish, German , French, and / or Portuguese
- Experience with program evaluation and / or grant writing will be considered an advantage
- A publication record that includes peer-reviewed publications in English will be considered an asset
