The Department of Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore seeks to fill a position in Southeast Asian archaeology. The appointment may be at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on the applicant’s qualifications.
Description
The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in an interdisciplinary area studies department. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in some of the following areas: environmental archaeology, premodern art history, early Southeast Asian history, museology, textual/visual/literary analysis (as pertains to archaeological research), and cultural resource management in Southeast Asia. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Research specialisation is open but special consideration will be given to those who demonstrate a broad understanding of the region in their work and are comfortable with the latest technological advances in the field. Regional expertise – mainland or insular Southeast Asia – is open.
Requirements
Candidates should have expertise in relevant Southeast Asian languages for their research. Senior candidates should demonstrate a professional history of receiving and managing external and competitive grants.
