The Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI), an Engineering Research Center (ERC) set by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Shell with the University of São Paulo’s Engineering School (POLI-USP) is offering a post-doctoral fellowship in materials screening and First Principles calculations for heterogeneous catalysis and fuel cells to produce hydrogen.
Duties of the position
The appointee will be expected to employ advanced computational techniques and machine learning algorithms to identify and assess materials suitable for the catalysis in direct ethanol solid oxide fuel cells, focused on the steam reforming of ethanol; conduct First Principles calculations to investigate and describe the mechanisms of catalyzed reactions, including steam reforming of ethanol and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers to integrate your findings into developing solid oxide fuel cells running on ethanol.
Required selection criteria
Applicants should possess a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computation, Materials Science or Engineering; programming skills, experience in machine learning and Density Functional Theory (DFT), and proficiency in English.
Benefits
The selected candidate will be offered a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 9,318.90 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
