Duties

s a project researcher, your responsibilities include conducting research and participating in data collection within cultural and creative tourism (CCT) theme in a living lab established in the cross-border Torne River Valley area. Your tasks include e.g., data collection, analysis, publishing scientific articles, reporting, and collaboration with project partners and stakeholders.

The work is part of the Cross-Border Cultural and Creative Tourism in Rural and Remote Areas (CROCUS) project funded by EU Horizon programme. CROCUS aims to promote sustainable cultural and creative tourism in rural and remote areas across Europe. By developing tailored business models, establishing cross-border living labs, and creating supportive policies, CROCUS seeks to enhance socio-economic conditions in these regions.

Qualification and requirements

In order to succeed and enjoy the project researcher position, we expect from you

  • Master’s degree in Human Geography or other relevant field
  • Experience from international and interdisciplinary research environment
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Finnish
  • Good Swedish language skills
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills

We also appreciate

  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and communicate with various stakeholders
  • Experience in scientific writing and communication
  • International experience and networking skills

Benefits

The duration of the fixed-term position is two years, beginning on the 1st of September 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter). A trial period of 6 months is applied for the position.

The salary of a project researcher will be based on levels 7-8 of the demand level chart for other experts and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approx. 2600-3200 € per month (before taxes).
