Job Functions
The joint EBU doctoral network DESTINY is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action of Horizon Europe and offers a total of 15 fully-funded PhD positions in an inter- and transdisciplinary research and education programme.
Six leading universities in bioeconomy research and training have been collaborating since 2019 to train a new generation of truly European experts, fostering rigorous, relevant and interdisciplinary research that develops solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.
DESTINY will address the transition from a fossil fuel-based economy to a bio-based economy by developing new methods and tools to optimize biomass production systems, develop new bio-based value chains and assess their sustainability in a comprehensive manner.
We cover diverse disciplines and sectors, from agronomy and engineering to economics, political and social sciences, to create a new type of scientist: the bioeconomist.
To achieve this, we offer a multidisciplinary curriculum that equips the 15 PhD students with the knowledge and skills to become leading experts in the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy in Europe. The research programme is at the crossroads between and is addressed to the agricultural and forestry sectors, the bioeconomy industry, academia, consultancies and governments.
