Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, is organising a selection procedure to establish a reserve list from which to fill future vacant posts of European Border and Coast Guard Officers – Standing Corps – Basic Level.
The new European Border and Coast Guard Regulation provides for the establishment of a European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps, which will consist of up to 10 000 operational staff by 2027, and will be deployed along the external land, sea and air borders of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Joining the Standing Corps offers a unique, pioneering opportunity to form part of the EU’s operational arm for European integrated border management. The Standing Corps will be trained and equipped to assist Member States and contribute to ensuring safe, secure and well-functioning external borders of the EU and the Schengen area. Successful candidates will be deployed in the Agency’s operational activities as of 1 January 2021.

Main Tasks
European Border and Coast Guard Officers are the frontline of the European Standing Corps, dealing upfront and hands-on with routine and challenging situations at the EU and Schengen external borders. The main duties and responsibilities are to:
Work in teams when implementing tasks in compliance with operational plans, respecting the Agency’s
coordination and management structures;
Perform basic border and migration management tasks, such as: RCT-2019-00068 3/14
border checks;
border surveillance including border patrols;
screening, fingerprinting and registration of migrants;
gather information;
document, identity and vehicle checks;
preventing and combating cross-border crime
