The objective of eBio-hub is to establish a Center of Excellence in Bioengineering within the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (POLITEHNICA Bucharest). The goal of eBio-hub project is to unlock and foster excellent research in biomedical engineering, capitalizing the existing knowledge in POLITEHNICA Bucharest and integrating with local research and clinical expertise from University of Bucharest, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and local hospitals as well as making use of the state-of-the-art research infrastructure in biomedical engineering (INOVABIOMED) by setting up a strong research group and attracting top academics in the field, rising the competitiveness of POLITEHNICA Bucharest research in the European Research Area (ERA).
Duties of the position
The appointee will be expected to ensure the framework for carrying out scientific research and development activities, according to above mentioned fields; collaborate with the internal structures of the university to fulfil its strategic objectives; to identify and attract funding sources for the Center activity; to develop the center’s collaborative relationships with partners from the socio-economic environment and with research entities at national and international level; to represent, personally or by delegate, the center’s interests in relations with organizations and economic operators, as well as with natural persons from the country and abroad; to stablish the attributions, competences and mode of collaboration at the level of the center, as well as their relations with third parties; to seek to attract high-quality human resources for the implementation and/or development of the center’s research directions; to propose the appointment and/or revocation of research team leaders (Group Leaders), if necessary; to propose to the Board of Administration of the University the modification of the organizational and functional structure of Center; to propose the Coordinating Council to withdraw membership of Center; to select the members of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and to exercise other duties within the Center that are delegated by the University’s Administrative Council. They can delegate part of his duties to the deputy directors or one of the leaders of the center’s research teams.
Required selection criteria
Applicants should possess research experience in the field of Biomedical engineering / bioengineering, which should be proved through publications and patents (at least 100 publications in Scopus); experience in leading teams (minimum 3 years); experience in leading national and international projects (director or manager of minimum 3 projects with the total granted budget over 2 mil. Euros); experience in working with interdisciplinary teams; experience in research in the field of bioengineering more than 10 years; habilitation certificate in an engineering filed; excellence research (H-index Scopus >30 over 3000 citation); publication as main author (first and/or corresponding) in journals with impact factor over 10 and aligned research field with the eBio-hub directions, which should be proven through publications (molecular diagnostic, nanomedicine and transdermal drug delivery).
