The World Trade Organization has launched its 2024 Essay Award for Young Economists to promote high-quality research on trade policy and international trade cooperation.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Ph.D. holders or near completion and under 30 years old (or within two years of completing their Ph.D.). In the case of a co-authored paper, this requirement shall apply to all authors.
They will have to write an essay of a maximum of 15,000 words addressing the issues related to trade policy and international trade co-operation.
Prize
The winner author will get a prize of CHF 5,000 and have the essay published in the WTO Working Paper Series.
In the case of a co-authored paper, the prize will be equally divided among the authors.
The winning author(s) will be invited to attend the award ceremony taking place at the annual meeting of the European Trade Study Group (ETSG) on 12-14 September 2024 at Athens University in Greece.
Submissions should be sent to essay.award@wto.org and must include the essay and the CV of the author as separate attachments in PDF format.
