The Commission has approved the inclusion of Acehúche cheese from Spain in the register of protected designations of origin (PDO).
‘Queso de Acehúche’ is a cheese made exclusively from raw goat milk and produced in the centre-west of the province of Cáceres. The long tradition of goat farming in the region, combined with a casing process without any heat treatment by local producers with traditional knowledge and techniques, allows obtaining the distinctive characteristics of the shape, texture, aroma and taste of the “Queso de Acehúche”.
This new name is added to the list of 1,585 already protected agricultural products, available in the eAmbrosia database.
