Offer Description
Senior Assistant in the scientific field of Political Science for work on the research project “Researching Europe, Digitalisation, and Conspiracy Theories (REDACT)“. The position is financed by the Croatian Science Foundation under the competition (101004509 — CHANSE — H2020-SC6- TRANSFORMATIONS-2018-2019-2020 / H2020- SC6-TRANSFORMATIONS-2020), for a fixed period of 2 years, under the mentorship of prof. Ph.D. Nebojše Blanuše, at the Department of Croatian Politics, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Zagreb.
Requirements
Applicants should have Masters or PhD degree in political science, previous experience of working on research projects and/or scientific research activities in the field of political science, excellent knowledge of qualitative approaches in political science, especially the theory and analysis of discourse and ethnography, experience of working in an international team, excellent active knowledge of the English language, excellent computer skills and psychophysical abilities to work with people.
Specific Requirements
Persons of both sexes can apply for the competition under equal conditions in accordance with Article 13. of the Gender Equality Act (Official Gazette 82/2008, 125/2011, 20/2012, 138/2012, 69/2017).
All applicants who contest the right to employment under a special law are obliged to invoke the right to apply for the application, to enclose the documents proving the status on which they are entitled. The advantage over the other applicants is achieved only under the same conditions.
The persons referred to in Article 102, items (1) to (3) of the Law on the Rights of Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Their Family Members (Official Gazette 121/17, 98/2019 and 84/2021) are invited to submit the evidence referred to in Article 103, item (1) of the same Act for the purpose of exercising their right of employment: https://branitelji.gov.hr/zaposljavanje-843/843.
The persons referred in Article 48 of the Civilian Homeland War Victims (Official Gazette 84/2021) are invited to submit the evidence referred to in Article 49, item (1) of the same Act for the purpose of exercising their right of employment: https://branitelji.gov.hr/zaposljavanje-843/843.
The persons referred in Article 9 of the Law on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Official Gazette 157/2013, 152/2014, 39/2018 and 32/2020) are invited to enclose proof of the established status of a person with disabilities.
The persons referred in Article 48.f Law on the Protection of Military and Civilian Invalids of War (Official Gazette 33/1992, 57/1992, 77/1992, 27/1993, 58/1993, 2/1994, 76/1994,108/1995, 108/1996, 82/2001, 103/2003, 148/2013 and 98/2019) are invited to enclose a decision or a certificate from which the mentioned right is visible, as well as proof of the manner in which the employment was terminated.

Eligibility criteria
All applicants (M/F) have to meet the requirements specified by the Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education (Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia No. 119/2022) and other relevant bylaws.
A person who has been engaged in scientific work for a maximum of ten years (from enrollment in PhD programme) can be employed as a Senior Assistant. The ten-year period can be extended depending on maternity/parental leave or long-term illness, before or after obtaining the PhD. The mentioned period of 10 years does not include the time that the candidate did not spend in the education sector (for example, work in the private sector).
