President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Madrid today, Monday, together with the other European Commissioners, to participate in the inauguration of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. They will first visit the Galería de las Colecciones Reales and will be received by Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, and members of the Spanish Government.
The President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Sánchez and the Commissioners, for their part, will meet with their counterparts in the Spanish Government to discuss the current situation in the fields of geopolitics and foreign affairs, energy and digital transitions, the economy, democracy and European values, as well as security on the European continent.

The President and the College of Commissioners will then attend a lunch with the members of the full Spanish Government to discuss the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council. A press conference with President von der Leyen and President Sánchez will take place at 14:45 (CEST), which will be broadcast live on Ebs.
Finally, the President and the College of Commissioners will participate in an official reception at the Royal Palace with His Majesty King Felipe VI and members of the Spanish Government.
