Students wishing to complete their dissertation or who are curious to find out how local and regional authorities contribute to EU legislation in areas such as citizenship, cohesion, climate change, public procurement and security can apply for a short-term study placement. These placements are an excellent opportunity to discover the geographical dimension of EU policies. They also allow you to complement your academic training with first-hand experience of the work of an EU consultative body.
Study visits are unpaid placements organised by the CoR. To be accepted for a study visit, applicants must:
- Provide proof of funding from another organisation, such as a university, a public/private body or an NGO, in the form of a scholarship, grant, etc.
- or provide evidence that the study visit is an integral part of their training (for example, if the study visit is a requirement for thesis research or to complete the curriculum).
Who can apply:
- Third-country nationals (including those from the United Kingdom) may apply and, in exceptional cases, may be selected, particularly if their application is of particular interest to the Committee of the Regions and if they meet the requirements of national immigration law to reside and work legally in Belgium.
- Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or have completed half of a bachelor’s degree considered relevant to the CoR’s work).
- We are looking for candidates with an excellent knowledge of one of the official EU languages and a satisfactory knowledge of French or English.
Duration: 1 to 4 months (may be extended to 6 months depending on available resources).
Start dates: at any time, subject to agreement.
More information: European Committee of the Regions.
