The European Central Bank is offering a full-time internship in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), aimed at those interested in monetary policy, economics, finance and data analysis.
Profile:
They are looking for students or graduates with an interest in international economics, finance, macroeconomics and data analysis, with a particular interest in issues such as global financial markets, exchange rates, commodities, globalisation and the international financial architecture.
Requirements:
- Basic:
- Be a citizen of a Member State of the European Union.
- Hold a degree or higher qualification in economics, econometrics, finance, engineering, data science, applied mathematics or a related field.
- Have a sound knowledge of international finance, monetary economics, international macroeconomics or data science.
- Experience in collecting and analysing economic or financial data.
- Intermediate knowledge of programming or econometric software, such as MATLAB, R, Stata, EViews, Python, SQL or Julia.
- Good command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- English at C1 level and at least B1 level in another official language of the European Union, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Desirable:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field or be nearing completion of one.
- Experience of or an interest in applied research and quantitative analysis.
- Solid knowledge of statistics and econometric techniques.
Your role as an intern:
The successful candidate will be involved in tasks such as:
- Processing and analysing macroeconomic, microeconomic and financial data.
- Developing and automating workflows and data tools.
- Creating charts, visualisations and dashboards.
- Application of econometric and quantitative methods, such as DSGE, VAR, local projections and machine learning.
- Development and maintenance of models and analytical tools.
- Preparation of analyses for monetary policy reports and research papers.
- Collaboration with ECB economists on quantitative and analytical projects.
The placements will take place in one of the following two areas:
- Capital Markets and Financial Structure: analysis of financial markets, interest rates, bonds, equity markets and corporate finance.
- Monetary Policy Strategy: analysis of monetary policy stance, money markets, financial conditions, ECB communication and issues relating to the digital euro.
