The Commission supports the EU agri-food sector with €160 million

23 de January de 2026

The European Commission has launched a series of calls for proposals for 2026 to support campaigns and events promoting sustainable, high-quality agri-food products in the European Union and around the world. Up to €160 million will be made available through grants to co-finance programmes proposed by producer groups and other agri-food trade organisations, both in the EU internal market and in key non-EU markets with strong growth potential, such as the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and North America.

The calls for proposals are part of the 2026 promotion policy work programme, under which the Commission will allocate €205 million to co-finance promotion activities for EU agri-food products, the largest allocation ever dedicated to improving consumer awareness of European agricultural products and quality schemes. These actions are carried out under the slogan ‘Enjoy it, it’s European!’, which aims to raise consumer awareness of the quality of EU products and reward EU farmers and agri-food businesses for their efforts to comply with strict environmental and safety standards.

In addition, the work programme provides for initiatives managed directly by the Commission, including promotion and information campaigns in third countries, EU participation in major international agri-food trade fairs, visits by Commissioner Christoph Hansen to third countries and the development of market entry manuals for exporters.

Agri-food promotion policy is a political priority for the European Union, as highlighted by President Ursula von der Leyen in her State of the Union address. It is recognised in the Vision for Agriculture and Food as a key tool for supporting the global competitiveness, resilience and diversification of the EU agri-food sector.

The calls for proposals launched on 22 January will remain open for a period of three months and are aimed at a wide range of eligible operators across the EU. On 27 and 28 January 2026, information sessions will be held in person in Brussels with online broadcasting and interpretation into six languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish).
