The European Union is looking for specialists with professional experience in the field of external relations. Recruited specialists (grades AD 5 and AD 7) will mainly work in the European External Action Service (EEAS), which is the EU’s diplomatic service, helping the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy carry out the Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Main tasks
Your main tasks will be to promote and protect the EU’s interests and values in its relations with third countries and international organisations, and to contribute to the conduct of the Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). Additionally, you will cooperate with the national diplomatic services of the EU Member States, the Council and the European Commission, in order to ensure consistency between different areas of the Union’s external action.

Requirements
You need to be an EU citizen with a knowledge of at least 2 EU languages: a thorough knowledge of Language 1 (one of the 24 EU official languages) and satisfactory knowledge of Language 2 (English or French).
To apply for grade AD 5 (graduate administrator entre level grade), you need a university degree of at least 3 years followed by at least 1 year of professional experience in external relations. For the higher grade (AD 7), you need either a university degree of at least 3 years followed by at least 7 years of professional experience in the field of external relations, or a university degree of at least 4 years followed by at least 6 years of relevant professional experience.
