The Commission launched a public consultation yesterday on the future of the European automotive industry. The consultation supports the Strategic Dialogue on the future of the automotive industry in Europe, which began on January 30 under the leadership of President Ursula von der Leyen.
At a time when the European automobile and supply industry is undergoing a profound and disruptive transition, the strategic dialogue will design concrete strategies and solutions to support the global competitiveness of car manufacturing in Europe.
The goal of the dialogue is to work together with stakeholders from the European automotive industry, social partners, and other interested parties to have a shared vision of the main challenges and potential solutions, and translate it into concrete measures. The results of the dialogue will form the basis for the development of an action plan for the automotive sector, which will be presented on March 5 and is led by the Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
In this public consultation, which will contribute to the Strategic Dialogue, participants are invited to share their feedback on the main issues where urgent action is needed to ensure a strong future for the automotive industry in Europe. The consultation will be open until February 13. Participants can find more information about the consultation process here.
