Request of waiver of immunity of Catalan MEPs

Inicio » EU News » Request of waiver of immunity of Catalan MEPs

17/01/2020

The European Parliament has announced the beginning of the request of waiver of immunity of Catalan MEPs, Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín, by the Spanish authorities, which implies the withdrawal of their immunity as MEPs to be able to judge them in Spain.

The referral of the case to the Committee of Legal Affairs of the Eurocamara is the last step before the work of this body begins, which lasts on average between two and three months and could suspend the immunity of the catalan MEPs as members of the European Parliament.
