The European Parliament offers a range of internship programmes within its Secretariat to support young people’s professional development and help them understand how the institution works. These internships last for five months.
Eligible candidates must:
- be aged 18 or over;
- hold a university degree or degrees;
- have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU and a very good knowledge of another official language of the EU;
- have a criminal record that meets the requirements;
- not have worked for more than two consecutive months in an EU institution or body;
- not have undertaken a study visit to the European Parliament’s Secretariat within six months prior to the start of the placement.
Trainees receive a monthly allowance which varies depending on the place of assignment.
Candidates may apply for up to three internship offers per call for applications.
Positive action plan for trainees with disabilities
The inclusion of people with disabilities is a priority for the European Parliament. In addition to the standard selection procedure, applicants can now benefit from the Positive Action Plan for interns with disabilities.
Who can apply?
People with a long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory disability of at least 20%.
What are the benefits?
Shortlisted candidates for this programme who meet the general criteria of the Schuman training programme may receive an offer.
They may receive an additional payment of up to 50% of the monthly grant to cover the extra costs arising from their disability.
Appropriate measures will be taken to provide reasonable accommodation, ensuring that trainees with disabilities can fully access, participate in and progress within their training and employment.
