The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is offering paid internships for a period of ten months, from 1 October to 31 July 2027. The internship programme aims to provide interns with work experience in the administration of cooperation in the field of fundamental rights at European level.
The traineeship programme is aimed at recent graduates who can bring fresh perspectives to the FRA’s work. We are looking for motivated candidates who wish to gain initial work experience in the agency’s areas of activity and explore career paths within the EU institutions. No previous work experience is required. The call is also open to candidates who have recently completed a new university degree and are reorienting their career. To be eligible for this programme, you must have completed your most recent university studies within the last three years and no later than one month before the start of the placement. For this call, this means holding a degree obtained between 30 September 2023 and 1 September 2026.
Eligibility criteria:
- nationals of EU Member States, EEA EFTA States, EU candidate countries and potential candidate countries;
- have completed the first cycle of a higher education course (i.e. university education) and have obtained a full degree or its equivalent by the application deadline;
- very good knowledge of English
- Candidates must not have received any training or worked in any EU institution or body

- Institutional Cooperation and the EU Charter (INST)
- Justice, Digitalisation and Migration (JDM)
- Administration (ADMIN)
- Data Protection Officer (DPO)
Benefits:
Participants receive a monthly grant of €1,641.22. Participants with disabilities may receive a supplement to their grant equivalent to a maximum of 50% of the grant amount.
