The European Space Agency’s mission is the peaceful exploration and use of space for the benefit of all. It watches over the Earth, develops and launches inspiring and unique space projects, trains astronauts and pushes the boundaries of science and technology. It is dedicated to Space Unity in Europe and European unity in space. 
The ESA offers a variety of internship opportunities for young citizens of ESA Member States and Cooperating States. ESA Member States are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Canada is a cooperating state, and Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia are associate member states, while Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta are European cooperating states (ECS).
Programmes offered:

ESA Graduate Trainees (YGT)

The ESA Graduate Trainee Programme (EGT) offers recent graduates the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the development and operation of space missions in an international and multicultural environment.

The programme offers men and women a one-year non-renewable training contract (remunerated) designed to provide valuable work experience and prepare them for future employment in the space industry and/or research.

Working at one of ESA’s establishments offers the opportunity to work in an exciting international and multicultural environment.

Requirements:

  • Within one year of graduation and with a Master’s degree in engineering, science, IT or business services. Of course, you can apply (and we encourage you to do so) while still studying if you are in the final year of your Master’s degree, but you must have graduated before your internship begins. You will be required to submit your Master’s degree diploma no later than three months after joining ESA.
  • Any citizen of anESA Member State, an Associate Member, a European Cooperating State or Canada as a Cooperating Statemay apply for the scholarship. The full list of eligible countries is published at the bottom of each ESA vacancy.

  • One-year contract (with possible extension to a second year) with 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
  • Excellent employment conditions, including amonthly salaryexempt from national income tax in ESA Member States.
  • Travel expenses reimbursed at the beginning and end of the contract.
  • Expatriation allowance and/or installation allowance on arrival if moving from another country. Excess baggage costs are also reimbursed.
  • Membership of the ESA’s comprehensive social security and pension schemes.
  • The ESA also provides for leave for pregnancy, family ties, parental or family care and illness, as well as special leave for personal and family reasons.
