Offer Description
The Department of Design has a vacancy for a PhD position in the area design for sustainability transitions.
The department’s research activity contributes to four strategic areas, design for sustainability, social interaction, technology, and form. The department offers study programmes in web development, graphic design, interaction design, and industrial design.
For a position as a PhD Candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.
The PhD project will contribute to the department’s strategic research area design for sustainability, and more specifically to research on design for sustainability transitions and relations between humans and other nature. At the department, related research addresses everyday practices, everyday futures, participation, co-creation, and more-than-human design, and topics such as consumption (e.g., energy and circular economy), urban development, and urban nature.
The candidate is expected to connect to and strengthen research in the area, drawing on relevant theoretical perspectives, and on methods such as qualitative research methods and design or other creative and participatory approaches. Research methods, scope and focal areas can be adapted to the specific interests and background of the candidate. Depending on the topic, the research may be connected to cases within existing networks.
