Job Description
The Department of War Studies seeks to appoint a Lecturer in International Relations to contribute to the Department’s world-class teaching and research in this area. The successful candidate will have a track record of high-quality publications in IR. Applicants should also be able to provide innovative teaching within the broad IR field to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds. This will involve teaching on both compulsory and optional IR modules at BA and MA levels. The successful candidate will also play a role in the institutional and intellectual development of the Department and undertake Departmental, School, Faculty and University administrative duties as required.
Requirements
Essential criteria
- PhD awarded in International Relations
- Emerging track record in research dissemination and a clear research agenda
- Research and teaching focus on International Relations theory
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate students
- Willingness to contribute to diversity and inclusion efforts within the department
- Advanced communication skills, both oral and written
- For an appointment at Grade 7, candidates must have a PhD thesis published or in press as a monograph AND at least 2 papers published/ in press in peer-reviewed journals; OR at least 5 research papers published/in press in high-quality peer reviewed journals. For an appointment at Grade 7, candidates must also show proven ability in and experience of academic leadership.

Grade and salary: £53,149 to £62,422 inclusive of London Weighting Allowance
