The tasks will involve studying changes in the behaviour and physiology of marine predators driven by post-release stress from surface longline fishing. Animal-borne data will be integrated with environmental data from climatological products to understand the cumulative effects of environmental and anthropogenic pressures.

Duties of the position

Within the scope of the work, the following tasks will be developed:

  • Analysing behaviour and physiology data obtained by bio-loggers;
  • Integration of environmental data with the data collected from the animal;
  • Characterization and quantification of post-capture stress in the context of climate change;
  • Support for report writing and dissemination of results activities.

Required selection criteria

Holders of a master’s degree in Biology and related fields enrolled at a non-degree program at a university. Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience in processing and analyzing telemetry data (using specific software such as IGOR);

  • Knowledge of programming (e.g., R);
  • Knowledge of using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS);
  • Experience collaborating with international teams;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Good communication skills.
