The European Commission is committed to involving younger generations in discussions about clean energy. Launched in 2023, the Young Energy Ambassadors programmeaims to:
- increase young people’s participation in the European policy-making process related to sustainable energy;
- boost young people’s interest and impact in clean energy; and
- recognise and reward young people’s contributions to the energy transition.
The Young Energy Ambassadors(YEA)programme offers you a unique opportunity to join a dynamic group of young professionals for one year. You will have the chance to participate in EU energy policy-making, interact with policy experts, learn about energy issues and share policy messages in your communities. YEAs will actively participate in the debates of theEuropean Sustainable Energy Week(EUSEW) from 10 to 12 June 2025 and beyond.
European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2025
This year’s event focuses on the theme ‘Driving a fair and competitive green transition’, and the European Commission is keen for young voices to contribute to shaping the future of Europe. Young participants will take part in featured sessions at EUSEW and connect with policymakers, industry leaders and media representatives from across the EU, as well as contribute tothe European Youth Energy Day(EYED). Participation costs will be covered. Sharing ideas during the Political Conference sessions or networking at the Energy Fair are other ways to connect with the sustainable energy community.
A year of opportunities
The Young Energy Ambassadors (YEA) programme is more than just an opportunity to attend the EU’s largest sustainable energy event. It is about becoming part of an exceptional professional network spanning the whole of Europe.
Being a YEA is a one-year commitment, giving you the opportunity to make a lasting impact beyond your participation in EUSEW. You will join a vibrant network of young people, participate in various activities, such as a mentoring programme, workshops and policy dialogues, and appear in leadingEuropeanmedia outletsspecialising in sustainable energy.
Previous cohorts have driven important policy conversations, including dialogues with EU leaders and participation in initiatives such as the joint creation of recommendations on the future of clean energy for the new Commissioner for Energy and Housing.
The YEA programme connects passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds (students, activists, researchers, and professionals) working towards a sustainable and climate-neutral future. Your unique perspective and experience will contribute to challenging old ways of thinking and to a collective vision for the future of clean energy in Europe.
