17 de February de 2026

On 13 February, the Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports into the EU of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resins from Taiwan and the Republic of Korea.

buque comercio marítimo The anti-dumping duties imposed range from 5.2% to 7.5% for Korea and from 10.9% to 21.7% for Taiwan. The imposition of definitive duties follows a thorough investigation which concluded that imports of ABS from Taiwan and the Republic of Korea were entering the EU at dumped prices. This is causing injury to EU-based manufacturers of this product, located in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, where some 920 people are directly employed in its manufacture. Provisional duties were already imposed at an earlier stage of the investigation on 14 August 2025.

ABS is a plastic used in a wide variety of industrial sectors and applications. For example, it is used in the automotive sector (in vehicle bumpers or decorative elements), in household appliances (such as washing machines or dishwashers), in electronics (such as computer keyboards, mice, remote controls or phone cases), in furniture, in construction (in pipes and tubes), in medical devices and in toys (such as LEGO bricks).

In an EU ABS market estimated to be worth €1.4 billion, imports from Korea and Taiwan had reached a market share of 31% in the period between October 2023 and September 2024, during which time the EU industry’s market share had fallen to 63% (compared to 72% in 2020).
