The University of Almeria is pleased to announce the celebration of the IV Conversatory on International Migrations, which will take place next Tuesday 14 October 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the Aula Magna of the Humanities Building C.
Under the title “Why did you migrate? Multicausalidad de las migraciones argentinas a Europa“, this meeting aims to generate a space for analysis and academic debate on current migration dynamics, paying special attention to the diverse and complex motivations that drive population movements from Argentina to Europe.
The keynote address will be given by Cecilia Jiménez Zunino, a leading researcher at the Institute of Humanities of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and professor at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina). Dr. Jiménez Zunino has a recognised trajectory in international migration studies, which positions her as one of the most authoritative voices on the subject. Her research and academic experience will allow for an in-depth analysis of the multi-causality that characterises contemporary migration processes, providing a comparative and rigorous perspective on the phenomenon.
The talk will also include the participation of Ángeles Arjona Garrido and José Ignacio López-Gay Lucio-Villegas, who will introduce the event, and will be moderated by Daniela Herrera Rubalcaba.
Organised by the Centre for Migration Studies and Intercultural Relations (CEMyRI) and the European Documentation Centre of the University of Almeria, this event reaffirms the institutional commitment to the promotion of scientific knowledge, interdisciplinary debate and the dissemination of excellent research on international migration.
The activity is open to the university community and the general public interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities posed by migratory movements in the contemporary world.
