On Friday 9 May, the European Documentation Centre of the University of Almeria will once again celebrate Europe Day, which commemorates the historic Schuman Declaration of 1950, based on the two basic pillars of peace and solidarity, and which recognises the birth of the European Union.
To this end, two activities will be scheduled throughout the week:
On the one hand, on Thursday 8 May from 10 to 11 a.m. a stand will be set up in Aulario 2 to inform students and all those who come by about the information resources available in the European Union on issues such as training, job opportunities, citizen participation, volunteering, etc.
On the other hand, on Friday 9 May, we will continue our commitment to music as a means of union and an instrument for the achievement of peace and solidarity. This year, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the protocol of accession to the European Union by Spain and Portugal, we thought it appropriate to invite a representative group of our neighbouring country to offer a concert of music. For this reason, we will have the presence of Ana Margarida, fado singer awarded in the USA by the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) 2024 with the “Best Fado Performance” for the song “A Ver as Vistas” and also nominated in 2024 (with the fado fusion project Bela Ensemble) for “Best Fado Album” by the Portuguese Music Play Awards. She is considered one of the most powerful voices in contemporary fado.
It will take place at Clasijazz in Almeria from 22.00 and will only be accessible through invitations from the European Documentation Centre. In order to access the invitations, an email with instructions will be sent to the entire university community.
Stay tuned!
