The Joint Undertaking for Chips has today opened calls to support research and innovation initiatives in semiconductors. This is the first call of its kind in quantum technologies to increase investment in cutting-edge technologies, in particular quantum chips for computing and sensing.
The EU funding for this call is €65 million and is expected to be matched by funds from the participating states in the Joint Undertaking for Chips. This sum is part of the €200 million EU investment in quantum chips foreseen under the Joint Undertaking for Chips over the next three years.
The call will select projects for the development and manufacturing of quantum technologies to enhance innovation in Europe and pave the way for establishing a quantum chip manufacturing supply chain in Europe.
Real-world applications include solving complex optimisation problems in logistics and supply chain management, accelerating drug discovery through molecular simulations, improving cybersecurity with advanced encryption methods, and enhancing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
The deadline for submission of proposals for these calls is 21 January 2025 at 17.00 Central European Time.
Interested organisations can apply for funding through the funding opportunities and tenders portal and the Chips Joint Undertaking website.
