Conference “The European Union and its Global Challenges”.

The European Documentation Centre in Almeria is organising the conference “The European Union and its global challenges” on 20 October.

The conference, which will be held in person in the Salón de Grados of the Government Building and Paraninfo of the University of Almeria and will be simultaneously broadcast in streaming through our YouTube channel, will begin at 9.00 am and will close at 14.00 pm.

This conference brings together for the first time at the University of Almeria a large group of people from Almeria with an extensive professional career as European civil servants, whose experience will undoubtedly be enriching for the next graduates of our university.

The conference will address, among other issues, the actions carried out by the European Union in the face of climate change, the blue economy, the response to natural disasters and the work of European diplomacy in situations of serious global instability.

The conference will be divided into two round tables:

European Elections 2024, with the participation of:

• Jesús Carmona. Media Director of the European Parliament
• Manuel Carmona. Advisor for Environment and Oceans in the EU Delegation in Washington DC
• Diego Mellado Pascua. Secretary General of the European External Action Service

Expectations and challenges for the European Union, with the participation of:

• Manuel Pleguezuelo. Responsible for blue economy policies in the DG for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission.
• Laurent Alfonso. Expert in the European Civil Protection Mechanism and seconded by the French Government to the Union for the Mediterranean.
• Manuel Carmona. Counsellor for Environment and Oceans at the EU Delegation in Washington DC.
• Jesús Carmona. Director of Media at the European Parliament
• Sergio Arjona Jiménez. Vice-Minister of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of the Andalusian Government
• Diego Mellado Pascua. General Secretariat of the European External Action Service

Admission to this event will be free of charge until full capacity is reached.
