The European Central Bankis offering grants of €10,000 each to 15 women pursuing postgraduate studies in the fields of economics, statistics, engineering and computer science.
This funding is intended to help cover the costs of your studies. If your application is successful, you will also have the opportunity to gain an insight into the ECB’s central banking and banking supervision work, as well as the career opportunities it offers.
If you are a woman and are currently enrolled in, or about to enrol in, a Master’s degree inone of the fields of study mentioned aboveat a university or business school in Europe, this scholarship could be for you!
Requirements:
- EU citizens;
- Currently enrolled or about to enrol on a Master’s degree in economics, statistics, engineering or computer science at a European university or business school (see here);
- Achieved excellent grades in their undergraduate studies (i.e. for their bachelor’s degree) (the corresponding grades for a range of countries can be found here);
- Facing a lack of funding that may prevent you from continuing your studies.
How to apply
Applicants must complete the application form and submit it, together with all supporting documentation, toECBWomenScholarship@ecb.europa.eu:
- Proof of admission or enrolment on a master’s programme in one of the relevant fields of study for the coming academic year;
- official academic transcripts from their undergraduate studies;
- current financial situation;
- an up-to-date curriculum vitae and a statement of purpose (explaining the reasons for pursuing a specific field of study and research, and professional interests);
- an official academic reference letter from a professor, careers advisor, administrator, coach or mentor.

Successful candidates will receive:
- a grant of €10,000;
- a study visit to the ECB;
- an in-depth insight into the ECB’s central banking and banking supervision functions;
- the opportunity to meet other academics and the ECB’s Women Leaders network;
- Advice and mentoring from an ECB economist or an expert in the field of banking supervision, statistics, engineering or information technology.
