The EU is looking for highly qualified Irish-language (GA) lawyer-linguists. Recruited officials (grade AD 7) will mainly work at the Court of Justice of the EU, based in Luxembourg.
As a lawyer-linguist, you will translate legal texts into the language of the competition from at least two other languages and review such translations. Your will also provide legal analysis in cooperation with the Registries and the other departments of the Court of Justice. The work of a lawyer-linguist involves the use of standard IT and other office-technology tools.

Do you have what it takes?
If you are an EU citizen with excellent knowledge of at least 3 EU languages: perfect knowledge of Language 1 (Irish – language of the competition), thorough knowledge of Language 2 (English, French, German, Italian, Polish or Spanish) and thorough knowledge of Language 3 (one of the 24 official EU languages-different from Language 1 and Language 2) then you are the one we are looking for.
Additionally you must have a level of education corresponding to completed university studies attested by one of the following diplomas in law:
- Leibhéal oideachais arb ionann é agus cúrsa ollscoile a bheith críochnaithe agus deimhnithe le dioplóma sa dlí, nó a comhionann, nó cáilíocht mar abhcóide nó aturnae a baineadh amach in Éirinn; féadfar dioplómaí nó cáilíochtaí coibhéiseacha a baineadh amach sa Ríocht Aontaithe a chur san áireamh.
- Taithí ghairmiúil iomchuí bliana ar a laghad i gcás iarrthóirí a rinne cúrsaí trí bliana.
No professional experience is needed if the required university studies lasted four years or more.
