Duties of the position
The research fellow is expected to contribute to the implementation of tasks coordinated by the Transportation Department, in line with the main R&D objectives associated with the sustainable development of transport and logistics in connection to the pilot-studiess, and should focus on freight transport planning (modelling) tasks and on application of data science methods, namely covering the following:

- Contribution to modelling sustainability for smart logistics;
- Integration in a multilevel model of key performance indicators aiming at sustainability.
- Traffic forecasting and CO2 emissions.
Required selection criteria
Elligible candidates are those holing a PhD in civil engineering (transport engineering) or in related areas, including other areas of engineering (e.g. computer engineering) applied to the area of transport and logistics, whose degree has been obtained in the last five years, and who show motivation in research tasks, in the areas mentioned in 8. Due to the nature of the tasks to be carried out, written and oral fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
The Grant shall include a monthly allowance in the amount of € 1,801.00. The research fellow shall also be entitled to a specific social security system and to insurance against personal accidents at work.
The Grant shall be awarded for a 12-month period, renewable up to:
- The duration of the project; or
- 32 months.
