This collection of studies, prepared by the Policy Department C at the request of European Parliament’s JURI Committee, indicates that better EU legislation and regulation can deliver gains to the European economy of over EUR 2,200 billion, while even selected sectorial legislation can deliver EUR 575 billon in case of free movement of goods and customs union, EUR 389 billon in case of free movement of services and EUR 177 billion in case of the Digital Single Market, annually. At the same time delaying better legislation and regulation in the EU leads to an aggregate annual loss of EUR 319 billion just in the digital transformation area. Experts indicate at an urgent need of new instruments for the EU better regulation agenda.
[Leer Más]The aim of this Thematic Review is to highlight examples of policies, research and social dialogue practices in EU Member States to ensure a fair green transition. The report examines existing research on the impact of the green transition on the economy to date and also looks at forecasts on future impact. For the majority of Member States slight or more pronounced positive employment effects are predicted in forecasts and foresight exercises due to decarbonisation investments and the fossil fuel phase out.

[Leer Más]On 25 January 2017 Tourist accommodation shed in Commission Decision 2017/175, within the scheme of the EU Ecolabel Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 66/2010). This User Manual (UM) is a practical tool that summarises the steps to be followed by EU Ecolabel applicants in order to verify the compliance with the abovementioned Commission Decision. More concretely, this manuscript supports the interpretation of the EU Ecolabel criteria for Tourist accommodation and provides a good and up-to-date overview of the existent legislation and initiatives behind each EU Ecolabel criterion. This document also gives practical explanation on how to assess and verify the compliance check. The UM aims to optimise the time and ease the procedures of all the actors involved in the application stage by improving the technical understanding of sustainable product policy among intended audience (external stakeholders) and boost the number of certified tourist accommodation services products.
[Leer Más]The proposed reform of the electricity market design maintains crucial elements of the existing system to ensure continued efficient operation. The impact that changing the rules on longer-term contracts will have on consumer prices and investment will depend on the concrete language of proposed legislation as well as its ultimate implementation. Overall, neither the expected mode of impact of individual reform elements, let alone their interaction, is clearly spelled out by the legislators.
