Resumen:Este estudio examina los efectos de las medidas e instrumentos de la Política Agrícola Común (PAC)1 sobre el bienestar animal y la reducción del uso de antimicrobianos. Identifica las prácticas agrícolas, su impacto en estos dos componentes, y cómo dichas prácticas fueron efectivamente apoyadas por la PAC, evaluando luego cómo la PAC impactó en el bienestar animal y el uso de antimicrobianos. El estudio se organiza en nueve preguntas de estudio, que evalúan la aplicación, la eficacia, la eficiencia, la coherencia y los indicadores de la PAC relacionados con los dos temas estudiados. El análisis abarcó el período posterior a la aplicación de la reforma de la PAC de 2013, a partir del 1 de enero de 2014, en todos los Estados miembros (incluido el Reino Unido).
Summary:This study examines the effects of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) measures and instruments1 on animal welfare and the reduction of antimicrobial use. It identifies farming practices, their impacts on these two components, and how such practices were effectively supported by the CAP, then assessing how the CAP impacted animal welfare and antimicrobial use. The study is organised in nine study questions, assessing the implementation, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and indicators of the CAP related to both themes studied. The analysis covered the period following the implementation of the 2013 CAP reform, from 1 January 2014 onwards, in all Member States (including the United-Kingdom).
