Today, European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, responsible for the Promotion of our European Way of Life will be in Malaga to visit the Andalusia Cybersecurity Centre and the Google Security Engineering Centre. The aim of this visit is to exchange information regarding the EU’s work on cybersecurity and to highlight the importance of capabilities in this sector. Vice-President Schinas will also meet with Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of the city of Malaga.
On Thursday, Vice-President Schinas will travel to Seville to participate in a working breakfast organised by the Joly Media Group, where opinion leaders will participate. Vice-President Schinas will be presented by the President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Manuel Moreno. The event can be followed live here.
He will later deliver the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Erasmus Generation meeting, the largest conference organised in Europe by a student association. This year’s edition focuses on international opportunities for youth and the participation of young people in democratic life in view of the upcoming European elections.
The Vice-President will also meet with representatives of the Commission’s Joint Research Centre and other stakeholders to discuss education and skills.
Finally, he will meet with José Luis Sanz Ruiz, Mayor of the City of Seville; together they will unveil the EU Smart and Climate Neutral Cities Mission Label, awarded by the Commission to Seville on 21 March 2024.
