The European Commission has launched apublic consultationto prepare a proposal fora European Social Security Pass (ESSPASS), part of the Fair Labour Mobility Package to be adopted in autumn 2026.
ESSPASS aims to make it easier for people who move or work in different EU countries to exercise their social security rights. It introduces a digital solution for the secure and rapid verification of social security documents, simplifying cumbersome procedures for individuals, businesses and national authorities, while reducing the risk of fraud.
The Commissionis seeking inputfrom individuals, national authorities, businesses, healthcare providers and other relevant stakeholders. The Commission would like to hear about the difficulties in proving and verifying social security rights and insurance status across Europe, as well as your views on the potential impact of ESSPASS.
