At the Faculty of History, Art and Area Studies the following tenure track professorship funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States has to be filled starting on 1st of April 2021 Junior Professorship in History Didactics with a particular focus on Historical Culture
Description
The successful candidate will advocate and represent the entire discipline of history didactics in research and teaching. Furthermore, they will be expected to focus on the field of historical culture (Geschichtskultur) and the development of innovative teaching and learning arrangements, both digital and analogue, for higher education and schools and to support these empirically. An integration of glocal perspectives is desired, as is collaboration and alignment with the corresponding research profile focus at the Faculty of History, Art and Area Studies and at Leipzig University as a whole. Candidates should have experience in undergraduate teaching and academic management and be willing to contribute to University self-government and the acquisition of external funding.
Requirements
In order to be eligible for the position, candidates must hold a doctorate in history or history didactics, the first Staatsexamen (state examination) or a Master of Education completed with distinction, and the second Staatsexamen in the discipline of history. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at a school. Several years of experience in the teaching of history didactics, and relevant publications on the outlined topics of historical learning, are a prerequisite.
