Following last week’s presentation of the New Agenda for EU-Latin America and Caribbean relations, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will travel to Latin America this week to strengthen relations with key partners in the region.
Today, Monday, June 12, President von der Leyen will be in Brasilia, where she will be received by the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for a bilateral meeting and a working lunch. That same day, in the afternoon, President von der Leyen will deliver a speech at the Confederation of National Industry.
The following day, Tuesday, June 13, President von der Leyen will be in Buenos Aires. There she will meet with Alberto Fernández, President of Argentina. Later, at 22:00 CEST, the President will address the EU-Argentina Business Forum.
On Wednesday, June 14, the President will arrive in Santiago de Chile. There she will meet with the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and later the President will visit Comberplast, a Chilean company dedicated to plastic recycling.

Finally, on Thursday, June 15, President von der Leyen will be in Mexico City, where she will meet with the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
During this trip, the President will make a series of announcements on projects within the framework of our Global Gateway strategy, which will be mutually beneficial and will bring the two regions even closer together.
The President’s visits come ahead of the EU-CELAC Summit to be held in Brussels on July 17-18, which will highlight the strategic importance of the partnership between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean.
