The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body that gives Europe’s economic and social partners (i.e. employers, trade unions, representatives of small businesses, farmers’ associations, consumers, etc.) the opportunity to give their formal opinion on EU policies.
Twice a year, the EESC organises training periods for long-term (five months) and short-term (one to three months) service.
The main objectives of in-service training are:
- to consolidate and apply the knowledge acquired by the trainee during their studies or work;
- to provide the trainee with a practical understanding of how the various departments of the EESC operate
- to enable trainees to gain experience through the contacts established in their daily work.
Requirements:
Candidates must be university graduates and hold a degree by the closing date for applications. Candidates must be nationals of European Union Member States. However, a limited number of third-country nationals will also be accepted. They must have a thorough knowledge of one EU language and a satisfactory knowledge of another EU language, one of which must be English or French.
Long-term traineeships last five months and are organised twice a year: from 16 February to 15 July (spring session) and from 16 September to 15 February (autumn session).

Interns receive a monthly grant of EUR 1,538.88. Those who have already received their remuneration are not eligible for any financial contribution.
