Center for Energy develops sustainable solutions for the future energy system, taking into account technological, regulatory and economic requirements. The topic portfolio is based on three central systems: Public Energy Supply Systems, Industrial Energy Systems and Cities & Built Environment.

As part of the international and interdisciplinary team “High Efficiency Power Electronics”, you will work in modern research and testing laboratories and focus on the development of innovative power electronic solutions forfuture electric vehicles and stationary applications and components

Duties

  • You work in national and European funded projects, contributing to the development of next generation power electronics.
  • You apply your expertise as a BMS and power electronics developer for topology and component selection, circuit design, and hardware/software implementation.
  • You develop and integrate hardware/software for battery management systems, traction inverters, onboard chargers, as well as DC/DC converters, and commission them.
  • You engage in programming BMS control and SOX algorithms for the operation of battery storage systems.
  • You simulate energy flow and electrical circuits and optimise power electronics in terms of efficiency, power density, and reliability.
  • You write impactful scientific publications and present them at national and international conferences.
  • You contribute to the development of novel methods and prototypes for our industry partners and help therefore to design better, faster, and sustainable products.
  • You give input for new strategic research ideas, that will contribute to the growth of our unit’s research project portfolio.
  • Through your input for new strategic research ideas, innovative results and customer-oriented approach, you will contribute to the success of our current research project portfolio and support our industry partners to roll out their new products to the market.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Technical Physics
  • Profound knowledge in Power Electronics, Electric Drives and Battery Storage Systems
  • Experience in the development of BMS systems and algorithms
  • Several years of work experience ideally in the context of electric vehicles and battery storage systems
  • Experience in independently managing (research) projects
  • Excellent proficiency in relevant tools (MATLAB, C++, Python, EAGLE, PSIM, LTSpice, PLECS, etc.)
  • Hands-on mentality and a passion for creating sustainable technical solutions
  • Analytical thinking and enthusiasm for highly innovative research
  • Very good communication and team working skills in English and best in German
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English; Very good German is highly preferred.

Benefits

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 59.934,–. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. In addition, they offer company benefits, flexible working conditions, individual training and career opportunities.
