Duties
You will conduct research within the framework of the ChatEQUITY project on artificial intelligence and educational inequality. Within this project, you are responsible for developing an innovative assessment tool to map AI skills. To develop this instrument, you will first carry out (digital) ethnographic and qualitative research activities in multilingual educational settings to gain insights into how students and teachers use AI and prompting techniques. Based on these insights, you will then develop a quantitative measurement tool capable of assessing the AI and prompting skills of students and teachers in an objective and authentic manner, without relying on self-reporting.Your research aligns with the above-mentioned theme and is aimed at obtaining a doctoral degree.
Additionally, you will:
- Publish English-language articles in renowned international scientific journals
- Actively participate in international scientific conferences and symposia
- Provide limited (approximately 10% of your time) teaching assistance in course units within the Bachelor’s or Master’s programs in Psychology and/or Educational Sciences.
Requirements
- You hold a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences, Computer Science, Psychology, Sociology, Engineering, or another relevant field.
- You have demonstrable experience with the use of AI and are highly interested in the subject.
- Students graduating in the summer of 2025 are also eligible to apply.
- You have a good knowledge of statistics or demonstrable ability to acquire statistical skills if needed.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and are capable of conducting qualitative research; experience with schools, teachers, and (multilingual) youth is a plus.
- You have excellent of Dutch. Multilingualism in one of the migration languages is an additional asset.
- You are willing to be physically present at the Leuven office at least four days a week.
- You have strong writing skills and can communicate clearly and persuasively.
