Participation – European Youth Event 2026 – Strasbourg

Every two years, the European Youth Meeting (EYE) brings together thousands of young people from across the European Union and other countries to discuss the present and future of Europe.

The seventh edition, EYE2027, will take place on 18 and 19 June 2027 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and in the EYE Village. The programme will include debates, workshops, visits and artistic performances, and will offer young people aged between 16 and 30 the opportunity to exchange ideas with Members of the European Parliament, policy-makers, experts and other young people.

The programme will be structured around four main themes: quality of life, competitiveness, security and EU values.

Call for applications:

The European Parliament is seeking organisers of youth activities who wish to contribute to the official EYE2027 programme by designing and delivering interactive workshops or small-scale artistic performances. The activities should encourage active participation, the exchange of ideas, the development of new skills and the exploration of different perspectives.

Proposals must address at least one of the four main themes:

• Quality of life: social rights and living conditions.
• Competitiveness: employment, prosperity and economic growth.
• Security: safety, protection and defence.
• EU values: democratic values.

Activity formats:

Innovative proposals may be submitted provided they are participatory and relate to the objectives of EYE2027.

Interactive workshops, such as:

• Simulation games and role-play activities.
• Participatory debates and discussions.
• Skills-building workshops.
• Games and participatory challenges.

Short artistic performances, such as:

• Participatory art.
• Immersive theatre.
• Musical performances.
• Dance and flash mobs.
• Poetry slam.
• Group singing workshops.

Activities must be conducted in English and last between 30 and 90 minutes.

The selected activities will take place over the two days of EYE2027, so their organisers must be available to run them twice, once each day.

Requirements:

Groups must:

• Consist of between 8 and 10 people.
• Have at least 2 facilitators for the workshops or 2 performers for the performances.
• Appoint a person in charge (Head of group) and a deputy (Vice-Head of group).

Group members must:

• Be aged between 16 and 30 on 18 June 2027. The group leaders and their deputies may be over 30, but must be at least 18.
• Reside in an EU Member State, a candidate country or the United Kingdom.
• Take an active part in the proposed activity.

Funding:

Members of the selected groups may receive a lump-sum financial contribution to help cover their travel, accommodation and subsistence costs. The amount will depend on the distance between their place of residence and Strasbourg:

• Less than 500 km: €400.
• Between 500 and 1,000 km: €500.
• More than 1,000 km: €550.

Any costs exceeding the amount awarded will be borne by the participants. Group members must make their own bookings and pay for their own travel and accommodation.

Technical and logistical support:

Selected groups will have access to the European Parliament’s facilities, which will provide the necessary spaces to carry out the activities and, depending on needs and availability:

For interactive workshops:

• A computer.
• Projector or screen.
• Tables and chairs.
• Electrical connection.
• Microphones.
• Stationery.

For artistic performances:

• Performance space.
• Computer.
• Sound system.
• Up to 3 microphones.
• Tables and chairs.
• Electrical connection.

Key dates:

• 25 September 2026: call for applications opens.
• 16 October 2026, 23:59 CET: deadline for submitting applications.
• Until 6 November 2026: assessment phase.
• Mid-November 2026: announcement of results.
• December 2026: individual registration on the EYE platform.
• December 2026 – June 2027: preparation of activities.
• 18 and 19 June 2027: EYE2027 takes place.

Submission of applications:

Proposals must be submitted electronically via the EU Survey platform by the deadline. Applications sent by email or in paper format will not be accepted. Eachgroup may submit only one application. A maximum of 40 groups will be selected. In addition, up to 10 groups may be placed on a reserve list.

Ineligible activities:

Commercial activities, lobbying or political campaigning will not be permitted, nor will activities containing discriminatory, illegal or content incompatible with EYE2027.

Assessment of proposals:

Eligible applications will be assessed by a committee on the basis of various criteria:

• Thematic relevance: a clear link to one of the four EYE2027 themes and a European perspective.
• Activity design and participation: quality ofthe format, structure and ability to actively engage participants.
• Previous experience: experience in organising youth activities or artistic performances.
• Communication and promotion: quality and originality of the communication strategy.
• Participation of a Member of the European Parliament: added value and feasibility of their participation, in the case of workshops.

The evaluation process will also take into account, where appropriate, geographical balance, with the aim of reflecting the diversity of perspectives from across Europe.
